The Daniel Diet - Praying To Be Thin

Difficulty? It takes discipline to stick with
Side Effects? None noted
Somewhere over time we have all heard the phrase, “You are what you eat,” which is downright frightening for many Americans. Nobody wants to turn into a deep fried doughnut. And yet, by our own choices, we have a country struggling with obesity and the affiliated complications of everything from poor self esteem to diabetes, so we continue to search for answers to heal ourselves and stop this modern plague. It seems inevitable, then, that someone would turn to a religious resource for answers. The Daniel Diet is one diet that has found a way to turn to the stories of the Bible for a solution. The basics of the diet is a story in which Daniel turned away from a high caloried rich diet to what we today would probably call vegan in order to prove his faith in God and foil a kings control and intentions. Several new books are on the market explaining the benefits of this ten day discipline.
Testimonials vary about the success of the diet. Some claim it is a great choice for weight loss, others attempt it in an apparent attempt to cleanse themselves of the detriments they see associated with nutrition that’s based on combinations of animal protein, fat, sugar, alcohol and other calories common in the intake of modern food sources.
Obviously, if your intake is loaded with items of high fat and high calorie to the ounce, a diet primarily constructed of fruits and vegetables with a few nuts or legumes on the side will result in weight loss. And some people will be attracted to the concept that it is Biblical in nature, associating their diet with God and spiritual discipline. But any diet practiced for a short period of time will most likely see its results parallel in time. It is probable that what we do for a week or so won’t change our lives forever. It is what we commit to with consistency that makes a consistent change.
